Only Built 4 Cuban Linx…

2008 release containing the instrumental version of this album from the Wu Tang member, originally released in 1995. Only Built 4 Cuban Linx’s portraits of big-money drug deals and black underworld kingpins living in luxury had an enormous influence on the new New York hardcore scene, cinematic soundscapes support the album’s tone; the appropriately dark or melancholy, shifting moods layer like different scenes in a film. 17 tracks. Altered Ego.

Criminology / Glaciers of Ice

As a founding member of Staten Island s Wu-Tang Clan, it s
not an overstatement to say this is a man who changed the
game. Now straight from the slums of Shaolin Inspectah Deck
is back with Manifesto, his best solo effort to date. Long
regarded as one of Hip Hop s most gifted MC s, Deck is joined
on Manifesto by Raekwon, Billy Danze of M.O.P, Termanology,
Cormega, Kurupt, Planet Asia, Cappadonna and many more. Deck takes a hands on
approach to the beats, personally producing several cuts and
overseeing all production. Many of the beats are based on live
tracks laid down by the same line up of musicians (The Revelations)
behind 2009 s Wu-Tang Chamber Music. In addition to
stellar appearance throughout the Wu catalog and solo efforts,
Deck is also known for his appearances on all time classic
albums such as Big Pun s Capital Punishment, Gangstarr s
Moment of Truth and Pete Rock s Soul Survivor. Further,
his own solo efforts are some of the best to ever arise from the
Wu-Tang camp. Now is the time for Inspectah Deck to deliver
truth to the world of Hip Hop. This is his Manifesto.

Blue Streak: The Album (1999 Film)

This soundtrack album for the Martin Lawrence cop comedy is a consistently good party disc. In addition to providing Jay-Z with yet another anthemic 1999 smash, Blue Streak brings forth more than solid work from hit-or-miss artists such as Kelly Price and introduces a couple of names to watch. Among the latter, Rehab’s cold-eyed dissection of ghetto fabulousness, “Gimme My Money,” is more down-to-earth than most such songs. In fact, much of the CD stands as a multivoice critique of the gangsta life and its effects on male-female relationships; Price’s “While You Were Gone” could be an answer to Wyclef Jean’s dealer apologia “Gone Till November.” Blue Streak is a smart, significant compilation. –Rickey Wright
